Who Should Attend Technicians that will be servicing Chrysler air conditioning and heating systems must complete this self-study course. In this course the technician will also have on understanding of electrical components related to the system. When the electrical section is complete, the technician will be able to properly diagnose an electrical concern for this system. Benefits This course introduces the technician to the fundamental theories of automotive air conditioning. The student will learn the principles of heat transfer, system components, controls and operation as well as refrigerant service procedures. This course also covers the use of recover / recycling equipment. This course will properly prepare the technician for the next higher level courses. When you have completed this course, you will be able to: - Have an understanding of the principles (the transfer of heat, the stages of the refrigerant in the A/C system, evaporation, condensation) used in automotive air conditioning. - Understand the different types of A/C systems, theory of operation as it relates to a specific system, part location and operation of their characteristics. - Understand the components and operation contained in the optional rear A/C systems. - Understand refrigerant pressure and temperature vary between R-12 and R-134a - Understand the effects of pressure and temperatures on the boiling point of water and the effects of moisture in an A/C system. - Understand the hazards of handling refrigerants. - Understand how to recover, evacuate and recharge an A/C system. - Pass an EPA approved A/C recovery and recycling program. - Identify the A/C request to the PCM on various corporate systems. - Understand the PCM’s involvement in the A/C clutch operation. - Understand the operation of the HVAC blend and mode doors.
