Technicians that will be servicing Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep engines must take this course.
Benefits
Technicians receive a basic understanding of engine fundamentals, tear-down, and diagnosis. Completing this course will familiarize the technician with basic principles of a 4 stroke engine, use of tools, and basic diagnostic procedures. This course will properly prepare them for the next higher level course.
In this course the technician will also have on understanding of electrical components related to the system. When the electrical section is complete, the technician will be able to properly diagnose an electrical concern for this system.
Course Objectives:
When you have completed this course, you will be able to:
- locate and identify engine systems and components

- use a compression gauge to diagnosis a problem.
- use a vacuum gauge to diagnosis an engine problem.
- use an oil pressure gauge to diagnosis an engine problem.
- know how to read a micrometer, dial indicator dial caliper, feeler gauge and telescoping gauge and use these on various engine components.
- know how to use and read Plastigauge to measure main bearing or connecting rod bearing clearance.
- know how to use a coolant pressure tester.
- diagnose and test a cylinders head gasket problem, using an exhaust gas chemical tester.
- know how to diagnosis and repair engine oil leaks.
- know how to use a straight edge and check various engine components
- to know how to inspect and test valve springs
- know how to perform the proper procedures for cleaning aluminum cylinder head
- know the proper procedures for checking valve guides and inspecting valves and seats.
- know the importance of using proper service and torque procedures.
- know the proper procedures for checking piston to cylinder wall clearance and honing cylinders.
